Communication is the Key to a Strong Friendship
I can say that I can count over a handful over friends that I can rely on. Yes, I am truly blessed because of that. What does the word friends mean to me? My sidekick that follows me everywhere I go? Or is a friend that person I just go to hear nice things about myself? No, what I consider as a friend is a person that I can trust, a person who can be honest, real, and reliable. Of course there are beyond many other descriptions of what I consider a friend.
Most of my friendships have overcome the odds. Distance, differences, and such are a few of the odds. Most of my friendships have been well established through long distance. Due to my nomadic lifestyle, many of my close friendships we forced to be of long distance. Through communication, most of my friendships endured. There are many people that tell me “I don’t talk to my old friend as much anymore because the distance has kept us apart”. To me that is just an excuse. Most of my friendships have only become more stronger through that distance.
What is the key to a strong friendship?
The key to a strong friendship consists of open communication with sincerity.
The weekend that I had gone to my hometown, I was packed with dates. Those dates were of all the close friends that wanted to see me again. Friends who had not seen my since my senior year of high school were calling me the whole day to see what time we would get to see other. Why? Because I’m a nice person? Well not exactly, to all those people, I was the only person that actually kept in touch with them after high school. Though I have a crazy schedule when I’m away, I manage to always keep in touch with everyone. So the best advice I can give to anyone in regards to keeping a friendship strong is having communication.
