The Record of Wrongs

Love

I knew I was wrong but I kept adding to it.
The more he hurt me, made me mad, yelled at me, lied to me, or did something insignificant, the more went on the record. The worst part had to be when I would bring it up after it was settled. Sometimes just to prove a point, other times to make sure he knew he hurt me, either way, it was brought up.
After one of these incidents happened a week ago God spoke spontaneously to me while driving to work. He said “Love keeps no record of wrongs. Remember 1 Corinthians 13, your all time favorite verse when you fell in love with me? Have I kept your record of wrongs each time you hurt me?”. Enough was said from the Lord to make me realize I was wrong. I dwelled in His word. I asked God for forgiveness. I prayed and gave it some more thought. Hours later I called Danny and told him I was sorry for keeping a record of wrongs with him. I took a lot for me to do it but in the end, it felt great letting go of all the resentment and argumentative intentions.

As I thought through the week about God’s revelation to me, I started to realize that I had lost focus on the true meaning of love. Most of us have sought love to be pain, unkind, impatient, proud, rude, etc. everything that the Bible states it shouldn’t be because we have confused it with infatuation of some kind or even a simple illusion. Has your love gone that sour route? If it has, then ask God to revel to you what love really is again. Dwell in 1 Corinthians 13 and pray about it.
The best part was that God made me realize a thing or two about love: His perfect love has been demonstrated through His mercy and grace but when we have failed to acknowledge His love that way He has given us someone to love the way He has loved us.
Who have you kept a record of wrongs with and are you ready to let go?
